Week 35 of 2026: rest

I arrived home from Lowlands on Monday and I was completely spent. I did expect this, of course, but it was worse than I expected. The weeks theme is taking it easy and recovering.

Read

  • finished The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin (The Broken Earth 2)
  • started The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin (The Broken Earth 3)

Not much reading this week, but I forced myself to finish, because reading is better than scrolling.

Played

On Tuesday I played Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast. Because I had a hunch I'd be tired after Lowlands (I was!) Clara offered to run the session for me, as well as doing the hosting of the Queer RPG Night. I was Clara and she was Seb and it was fun. Then as Clara, I played Edmund Wakeman and Rag-and-Bones and I loved how stressless the whole evening was.

On Saturday I played a non-RPG, an actual board game! It was Slay the Spire and it took 7:45 hours (we played all four acts). I never played the video-game version of it – the rest did – so I guess I missed a bit of the vibe (moving monsters are more engaging), but it was still interesting to play.

Ran

I was supposed to run 12km on Monday, but I skipped it. I was also supposed to run 11km of "Mile Repeats" but I was tired and out of it and I didn't know how to fit it in my schedule so I skipped that one as well. I did run a nightly 9km and the long run of the week: 26.9km from Schiphol Airport to my house (with a detour).

I am now officially signed up for the Amsterdam Marathon, so I shouldn't be skipping runs that much anymore. Let's say (hope?) I'm back!
