# Week 43 of 2026: downtime

This was the week of SPIEL in Essen, but also of the PHP vulnerability that crippled this weblog – it is even down as of the time of writing this post.

On Wednesday morning I decided I didn't want to risk it and turned off PHP. This took most of Seblog.nl down, for the first time in years. I regret this but it was needed: I don't want my server to get hacked, especially not when leaving for SPIEL without a laptop.

Unfortunately, I ran on PHP 8.1, which does not receive an update. A lot of server management later and I'm currently halfway into a move, but this beast is grown in many rings over the years, and I just can't get them all to work at the moment. I am considering starting all over, with only the content, but that's a big project as well. For now, we are down.

Lots of reading on the train! Lots of delays! More reading time! I'm already halfway.

## Played
On Tuesday I played Mausritter again, but this time I did not run it! I was a player in a one-shot that one of my regular players put together, in the wonderful world of Cool Springs. It was cool to play the familiar system of mice again, but with a western lens.

Also I played a lot of Gay Sauna the Board Game, as well as The Dick Sits and Soggy Biscuit, but since those were all demo games, I don't think it really counted. For someone who went to SPIEL I have surprisingly little other games to report, but hey, that's what you get when you volunteer at a friend's booth.

## Ran
There was downtime here too: I didn't run at all until Sunday, when I did an easy 5km. The marathon is not fully out of my body, I noticed, so I keep taking it easy.
