Week 39 of 2026: endings
A bit of a rough week. Been chased by a car, meetings at work, an emotional diversity discussion. But most of all: my friend Adrian has decided to close down the board game shop that he has been running for a year, where I have been trying to organize a Queer RPG Night for the same amount of time. I don't think this is the end of the Queer RPG Night, but it is sad that over the course of the next months we will have to find a new home for it, and I doubt it will be as luxurious a space as we have now.

To call this post "endings" and not finish this book... I know, but I'm almost there and I don't want to rush it. I keep making progress though!
Played
On Tuesday I ran the seventeenth episode of the Mausritter campaign. It's still rougher than I hoped it would be after the break. The world around the main city is mostly explored and I rolled on all tables before so I just don't really know where the story could go. Luckily theres always more juice in the tables if you are forced to just roll on them, resulting in way more deadly encounters than I personally would've dared to give my dear mice. But they survived, barely.
On Sunday we had our first Special Sunday edition of the Queer RPG Night – which unfortunately will also be the last one. I ran Pasion de las Pasion for a table of players who were either from Brazil or half-Spanish or just could speak Spanish. I felt immediately completely unqualified to run it, but luckily, the role of GM in this game is mostly one of scene setting and cutting at the right moments. What a drama they brought to the table! I love this game (and these players)!
Ran
The calf muscle is doing okay, so I went for a 12 km easy run from the office on Tuesday. It was quite a busy week so I skipped the tempo run and made the other easy run on Thursday 14.4km with some tempo in, which is not really what Runna encourages, but I had to fit it in somehow and with the injury I really want to do things on feeling anyway. For the weekend a 34km long run was scheduled, but...
I was planning to run the Zevenheuvelentrail – in my opinion the nicest event in The Netherlands – on the 28km distance, but then my brother and his girlfriend were convinced by my pitch, so they decided to participate too in the 7km race. That distance started in the evening, however, so I switched my ticket around to be a 21km and I bought a 7km ticket, to run with them. In the end, they didn't feel up to it, so I switched back to the afternoon, ran 28km and they supported me by being there at the start and finish. It was a really nice run (I managed to get 6:01/km over the full thing, including 615m of climbing) and I certainly want to run it again!
