Week 24 of 2026: Tropikali

Oops, I didn’t post this yet. It’s Wednesday, captain!

I went to a festival on Saturday! Unfortunately it wasn’t the greatest weather the name Tropikali gets associated with, but it was still nice to dance to all these sunny beats.

Played

On Tuesday I ran the thirteenth episode of my ongoing Mausritter campaign. Don’t tell my players, but to me it felt a bit like an improvised filler episode, since they investigated a place they were very curious about – but I knew there wasn’t much to be found there. Luckily I didn’t shy away from making my moves as big as possible: they found a map to the Mug of Truth they have been looking for since episode two, and after I got wind most of the regulars wouldn’t be able to attend next episode, I kidnapped most of the party. At least now I have a good mission for the remaining regulars next time!

On Wednesday I played Fate, specifically in the Worlds of Fire Fire Fighters setting. This is one of the few RPGs that tries to tell a realistic heroic story in a realistic setting, and our GM Michael was superb. The session started with the fact that we were in Utrecht, in fact, we were at the Bierkantine, in fact, we are at that table – while he pointed at the empty table next to us, which is to me a great start already. We ended up fighting a fire in the Douwe Egberts factory and I will probably always think of this session when I see that building again.

On Sunday I played Alice is Missing. As you might know: this is a game that you play without talking, silent in a room, while chatting on your phone about a missing girl you all know, named Alice. We luckily had a good ending – this can be a harsh game. It was my second time playing it and I was worried it would be “the same” but it certainly wasn’t. Would play again (but maybe not next week).

Ran

It’s easy running season... my calf is feeling much better after taking this week easy. Only 6.2km to report, which I ran Thursday before volleyball (which I skipped on Monday, for the same reasons).
